Like many people, Covid threw my fitness routine off track. I had been trying to stay consistent with the gym, but once that routine slipped, it was hard to get back into it. Over time, I noticed the effects of a less active lifestyle — my body felt more limited, and I realised that as I was getting older, staying inactive would only make things harder.
My goal wasn’t anything extreme. I simply wanted to be fitter, build some muscle strength, and if I lost a little weight along the way, that would be a bonus. The hardest part was overcoming my own excuses and actually committing to a routine.
That all changed when I joined Wellness on William and started working with Rowan. Enrolling in personal training gave me structure, accountability, and the professional guidance I needed. Rowan introduced me to weight training and, more recently, Saturday stretch classes. His passion for healthy living also inspired me to take a closer look at my nutrition — something I really started to embrace after spending time at a health retreat. Seeing results made all the difference; once I started noticing improvements, I was motivated to keep going.
Rowan has been instrumental in my progress. His knowledge and guidance ensured that I was doing the right exercises, with the right technique, so I could safely build strength. Without that support, I know I wouldn’t be seeing the same results.
Today, I feel healthier, fitter, and stronger. My energy levels are up, and even my golf swing has improved thanks to the extra power I’ve gained. More than anything, I feel committed to maintaining this lifestyle and continuing to build on what I’ve achieved.
My advice to others: It’s never too late to start exercising. Guided weight training and the right advice can make a huge difference — especially as you get older.
